V4 –

It’s important to make sure that your windscreen washer fluid is regularly topped up.

You don’t want to find yourself driving along with a windscreen covered in mud splatter and no windscreen wash left to clean the screen with. But if you’re anything like us, by the time you get into the house and unpack all the shopping, you’ve already forgotten about the dirty windscreen.

Take the hassle away, and pop into Garage Services in Harrogate, where our team will be happy to fill the windscreen wash for you and get you safely back on the road.

V5 –

There’s nothing more irritating than a smeary windscreen, especially if your wipers aren’t working or there’s no fluid left.

With the unpredictable weather that we all know and love in the UK, it pays to make sure that your windscreen wash system is in optimum working condition and that your windscreen wash is regularly topped up.

You don’t want to find yourself driving along the motorway with muddy water splattering on your windscreen and not being able to clear it. Not only is it annoying and nerve-wracking, but it’s also illegal to drive with impaired visibility. If you’re unsure how to do these checks yourself or just don’t have the time, get in touch with Garage Services in Harrogate, and our team will be happy to help.

V6 –

You need to make sure that you can see clearly out of your windscreen at all times.

For one thing, it’s illegal to drive with a windscreen so dirty that it impairs your visibility because it reduces the safety of you and other road users, so it’s important to make sure that your windscreen wash is kept topped up. Usually, a light will come on in your dash to alert you when the screenwash is running low. At Garage Services, we know that not everyone is confident under the bonnet, so if you’re at all unsure just give our team a call and we’ll be happy to help.

V7 –

Does the mere thought of lifting up the bonnet lid fill you with fear?

Not only is there the fiddliness of getting the screenwash in the reservoir instead of all over your hands, but you also need to make sure you don’t lose the screenwash cap and that you get the right level of screenwash. The whole process can be a real pain.

Well, that’s why Garage Services is here. If the screenwash light is illuminated in your dash, or no screenwash comes out when you flick the lever, pop into the workshop in Harrogate or give us a call on 01423 855902 and we’ll help you out.

V8 –

Quite often we only discover that we’ve run out of screenwash when nothing comes out after we’ve flicked the switch.

By then obviously, it’s too late and your visibility may already be compromised. It may be that you just forgot to top up the screenwash, or you don’t know how to, or understandably, you keep putting it off because it’s not the most exciting job that needs doing.

That’s where Garage Services comes in. If you’re in or around Harrogate, and you’ve run out of screen wash or the screenwash light has come on in your dash, pop into Garage Services, or give us a call on 01423 855902.

V9 –

Filling up your windscreen wash can be a real pain.

How many times has more of the liquid ended up on the ground under your car instead of in the windscreen wash tank? Why not just leave it to us?

Bring your car into our workshop in Harrogate, and our team at Garage Services will check the windscreen wash levels and fill it up, saving you the hassle.

V10 –

How do I know when I need to refill my windscreen wash?

The windscreen wash light may come on on your dashboard informing you that it’s time to top up the screenwash, or you may have noticed that there’s not much screenwash coming onto the windscreen when you flick the switch. Either way, you’re going to have to open up the bonnet and fill up the container or check how much screenwash is left in there. If that fills you with a feeling of dread, give Garage Services in Harrogate a call and we’ll be happy to sort all that out for you.

V11 –

When should I refill my windscreen wash?

Most modern cars will alert you via a warning light on the dashboard that your windscreen wash container is almost empty and that it’s time to fill up. You should get this warning before you notice any difference in the windscreen wash coverage that you’re getting. Filling up the screenwash container is relatively straightforward but we do understand that a lot of people just aren’t comfortable tinkering under the bonnet, or just don’t have the time. Bring your car into Garage Services in Harrogate – we’ll check the level of your screenwash for you and fill it up if necessary.

V12 –

Screenwash is essential to keep your windscreen free of the dirt and grime that is splashed up from the road.

If your windscreen gets covered in dirty spray, it’s pretty important that there’s enough screenwash in the container to make sure that your ability to see is not compromised. It can be quite easy to top up the screenwash, especially if you buy one of the ready-mixed options that are widely available. However, if you’re not confident under the bonnet, or you simply don’t have the time, give Garage Services a call and we’ll fill the windscreen wash for you and get you back on the road, quickly and safely.

V13 –

Maintaining clear visibility through your windscreen is an essential part of driver safety so it’s important to make sure that there’s always enough screenwash in the container.

You can check yourself by looking under the bonnet but, if the quantity gets really low, a warning light should automatically come on in your dashboard. At Garage Services, we understand that you maybe don’t want to get involved with what goes on under the bonnet, or you maybe just don’t have the time so we’d like to help. Bring your car into our workshop in Harrogate, and we’ll check how much screenwash is in the container and fill it up if necessary.

V14 –

Keeping your screenwash topped up is an absolute must as a dirty screen can obstruct your visibility and put you and other road users in danger.

In most cars, a light will come on in your dashboard to warn you that your screenwash is running low, but it’s always worth regularly checking how much screenwash you have available, to be on the safe side. However, we understand at Garage Services that people are busy, or aren’t confident under the bonnet so, if you’re in the Harrogate area, get in touch with our team – we can check how much screenwash you have left and top it up for you.

V15 –

If your car doesn’t have enough screenwash to keep the windscreen clean, a warning light should illuminate on the dashboard to alert you.

Finding the screenwash reservoir is generally easy enough but it sometimes feels like more screenwash ends up over the rest of the engine and dripping out under the car, than actually ends up in the screenwash reservoir. If this sounds familiar, get in touch with Garage Services, or pop into our workshop in Harrogate, and we’ll be happy to top up the screenwash for you.

V16 –

Do I need to use screenwash or can I just use water?

When you need to top up your windscreen wash, you may wonder if you can simply use water instead of the specialised cleaning fluid. That may work in countries with a more temperate climate where freezing isn’t an issue, but even then, water isn’t able to effectively clean off all the dirt, grime, insects etc that collect on the windscreen. Specially formulated windscreen wash generally does a better job than water, and it normally includes anti-freeze for those cold winter nights.

If you’re still not sure, or you’re not quite certain how to top up the windscreen wash, give the team at Garage Services a call for advice. Alternatively, just pop in with your car to our workshop in Harrogate, and we’ll be happy to help you out.

V17 –

How do I fill up the windscreen washer fluid in my car?

  1. Open the bonnet and locate the screenwash reservoir – it will have a little image of windscreen wipers on the cap.
  2. Remove the cap and insert a funnel into the reservoir opening to avoid spilling any washer fluid. You can normally see through the reservoir to establish when the screenwash has reached the maximum level line.
  3. Once you’ve filled it, replace the cap and wipe up any screenwash that might have spilt.

If you’ve done this and the jets still don’t spray anything or the screenwash light is illuminated in the dashboard it may be that there’s a blockage somewhere or that there’s some other problem which needs attention. In this case, give the team at Garage Services a call – we can check this out for you at our workshop in Harrogate and get any problems sorted quickly and effectively.

In fact, if all that you need is to fill up the screenwash, we’re happy to do that too because we understand that not everyone is confident under the bonnet. We are, and we’re happy to help.

V18-

You might wonder if it’s really worth having screenwash – won’t water do?

Water might work in some gentler climates, but here in the UK with our famously cold and wet winters, screenwash helps to avoid an icy windscreen as it contains antifreeze. It also does a better job of cleaning your windscreen as it has some detergent in it. You wouldn’t clean your home with just water, and the same should apply to your car.

If you find your wipers are smearing dirt across your windscreen and reducing visibility, or the screenwash light comes on on your dashboard, come to Garage Services where we’ll top up your screenwash for you.

V19 –

We don’t just do the big jobs here at Garage Services – come along to our workshop in Harrogate and we’ll be happy to fill your screenwash up for you.

Some cars will give you a notification such as a light coming on in the dashboard, to let you know that you are running low on screenwash. If you see such a warning light on the dash, don’t leave it too long to fill the reservoir up – you don’t want to be left without enough screenwash to clear the screen. Not only does a dirty windscreen reduce visibility, if your screenwash reservoir is empty, your car will fail its MOT test.

We also repair and replace washer systems so if there’s a blockage or a break, our team at Garage Services will be happy to sort that for you.
